Forest Grove
Reshaping this front and backyard, we reviewed each area of this property. The landscape was a suburban lot home only to lawn, weedy gardens and zero entertainment spaces. Through the Common Ground design process, we collaborated with the family to refine each detail. During the cold months of the year, we developed a vision and established a solid plan. As we moved into the warm season, we had direction. The existing front yard lawn was removed, making way for a custom natural stone walkway that carves a clear path through the gardens and to the front entrance. Soft, layered plantings were selected to support pollinators and deepen with beauty over time. After a few years, the established growth exists in testament to the echo that it belongs as much to the birds, insects and soil life as it does to the people who live here.

“I recommend Common Ground to anyone who wants a beautiful yard that is designed to suit your house, the environment and your gardening abilities. I have a “brown thumb” and struggle to remember when to water or what plants need to be divided, de-headed or dug up. Taylor chose drought resistant plants that will flourish. She took the time to walk me through the care of the plants and she even taught me how to efficiently remove weeds. Not only did Cass and Taylor create a beautiful design that used native plants that work in this environment, but they created a gorgeous natural stone patio and walkway and beautiful flower beds that flow with the odd shape of our yard. Our back yard used to have an overgrown, weedy perennial boarder and way too much grass, courtesy of the former homeowners. Now it has beautiful landscaping that is lovely, lush and green. Our front yard went from dry, weedy and blah to having stunning curb appeal that definitely raised our property value.”
