As this couple attempted to renovate and complete their own front yard projects, they quickly realized they weren’t receiving the results they were looking for. One meeting and a design later and we were ready to complete their natural prairie inspired project. What started out as a corner lot full of lawn, was transformed and planted to become a paradise of wildlife habitat. The evolution has been a joy to witness. As the years pass, new surprises are revealed and give way to summer blooms. Spreading perennials weave their way through the landscape, reclaiming pathways by turning crushed rock into additional green space. A living ecosystem of its own, beauty pulses and offers abundance to the people and pollinators alike. This space beckons and restores. A sanctuary where soil breathes, plants grow and the soul shines.

Elements:

  • Perennial gardens with a focus on native species

  • Dry creek for stormwater management

  • Boulder bridge for access

“My wife found Common Ground after much discussion about what to do with our barren front lawn. One very thorough consult later and we had a plan. The design was made over the winter and we were included in every decision and given so much good information. The work itself was so fast and now looks just like what we imagined for our space. They are so knowledgeable, friendly, creative, and a joy to work with. Our front space is everything we hoped it would be now and I can't say enough good things about them and their work.”
